WellFit Tribes at BodyHoliday 2025
WellFit Tribes is one of the BodyHoliday’s more unusual Feature Months
running from June 30 to August 24 2025.
A Dad speaks out…
When my wife first pitched a “wellness holiday” in Saint Lucia for the whole family, I thought we were about to spend two weeks in some fancy spa drinking green juice and pretending to enjoy kale. I was already dreading the side-eyes from our teens—because, you know, nothing screams “fun” to a 16-year-old like sunrise yoga with your parents. But BodyHoliday surprised me… in the best, weirdest way.
We went in August, when they have this special summer program called WellFit Tribes. Normally, BodyHoliday is adults-only, but during July and August, they open it up to families with teens, which felt like we had somehow snuck into an exclusive club. And honestly? It worked. There was just enough “zen” for the adults and enough action for the teens that no one completely lost it. It’s a small miracle.
Each day was packed with stuff—we didn’t need to plan anything. There were fitness boot camps on the beach (I still have sand in my shoes) with real-deal Olympians leading the workouts. My son said it was “like CrossFit meets Survivor.” I still don’t know if that was a compliment. My daughter got super into yoga, which was unexpected, and even woke up earlier than us to make the 7:30 a.m. class. Who is she?
They had these cooking classes where we learned to make plant-based meals that didn’t taste like punishment, and I even picked up some basic sailing skills. Side note: if anyone finds a flip-flop floating somewhere in the Caribbean, it’s probably mine.
One night, we did a steel pan class, and I was 100% the weak link. I kept playing the wrong beat, and the instructor just smiled like, “Bless your heart.” But hey, I tried. The kids actually bonded over how bad I was, which—strangely—felt like a win.
This beach tournament was also on Saturdays, where families competed against the staff. Spoiler: They crushed us. But it was hilarious, messy, and competitive in that fun way where nobody takes it too seriously. And yes, I did pull a hamstring in the beach relay. Thanks for asking.
I’m still not sure what wellness should feel like, but I know we laughed a lot. The teens made friends through the social tables and the sports tournaments (volleyball was intense), and I got to be present with my family in this crazy beautiful place without the usual distractions. No one talked about school or work or college apps. It was just us, figuring it out.
Would we go again? I think so. Maybe next time I’ll win a game of beach rugby. Or maybe not. The point wasn’t the schedule or the classes—it was the time together. Even if it included a pulled hamstring and some questionable yoga poses.
Still wondering how the steel pan is supposed to sound, though.
WellFit Tribes – The Idea
WellFit Tribes is BodyHoliday’s summer program that brings families together through shared wellness, fitness, and adventure. Designed for parents and teens, it turns a luxury holiday into an active bonding experience—with beach boot camps, yoga, team sports, cooking classes, and even sailing. It’s about more than just fitness—it’s about laughing together, learning new things side by side, and stepping out of comfort zones as a tribe. Think of it as a reset button for family connection. Because honestly? The family that plays (and maybe wipes out in Water- volleyball) together stays together.
And probably laughs about it for years!
