A guest’s take…
Can I say that learning to dance kind of changed my life? Not in a dramatic way, but in this slow, unexpected, “oh wait… I feel better kind of way.”
At first, I was just doing it for fun—some YouTube tutorials, a random beginner hip hop class where I looked like a confused spaghetti noodle lol—but over time, something shifted. I started looking forward to moving my body.
It’s not like I suddenly got abs or became some TikTok dance icon (I mean… I tried, but those transitions are hard). But dancing got me out of my head, especially when everything felt like a lot. When I get anxious or doom-scrolling and spiraling, putting on a song and moving, even severely, helps me breathe again.
Also, dancing in a room full of strangers all equally awkward, as in Jive June at StolenTime. Weirdly healing. It’s like we’re all failing and vibing together and no one’s judging. I’ve made friends, laughed at myself A LOT, and even cried during a contemporary class once because the song hit too hard.
I still mess up steps all the time and get self-conscious, but dance gives me this little slice of joy and freedom that I didn’t even know I needed. It’s not about being “good.” It’s about feeling alive.
Anyway, if you’ve been feeling kind of stuck, maybe try dancing it out. Worst case, you get a good laugh. Best case… it changes you a little, like it did for me.
Jive June – The Idea
Dance, as both an art form and physical activity, offers profound benefits for well-being and fitness. Physically, dancing improves cardiovascular health, flexibility, coordination, and muscle tone. Magdalena Michno
2nd – 14th June 2025
Michno was born in Poland and started ballroom dancing in Wroclaw, Poland. Between 1992 and 1999, she achieved “Master Class” status in five Latin dances (Samba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Pasodoble, Jive) and five standard dances (English Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep).
From 1999 to 2005, she was the Artistic Coordinator and Choreographer at the Academia Club in Rzeszow, Poland, teaching choreography for pageants, dance shows, and fashion shows. She took a break from dancing to start a family and welcomed 2 children between 2005 and 2009. She once again resumed dance coordination in Rzeszow, teaching Cuban Salsa and Bachata.
Stefanie Salyers
12th – 20th May 2025
Stefanie Renee Salyers is a professional dancer currently on tour with the Tony Award–winning Broadway show Moulin Rouge. Stefanie studied classical ballet for over 15 years before moving to New York City and beginning her career as a Broadway performer. She has performed internationally in musicals such as Grease, On Your Feet!, West Side Story, Tootsie, and more. Stefanie teaches dance classes, master classes, and more to kids and adults across the US.




Andrzej Mialkowski
14th – 28th June 2025
Andrzej is a professional Ballroom and Latin dancer from Szczecin, Poland. His journey in dance began at the age of ten with the world-renowned Astra Dance School, where he honed his skills in Ballroom and Latin American dancing. Over the next decade, he competed in more than 300 national and international competitions, winning his first championship in 1994 and reaching the finals in prestigious events across Poland, Norway, and France.
More than 19 years ago, Andrzej founded Step by Step Dance School in Brackley, UK. Under his leadership, the school has flourished, becoming a respected institution for dancers of all levels. As its founder, he brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the dance world.
An IDTA-qualified instructor, Andrzej has over 20 years of experience training and teaching dancers—from complete beginners to top-level competitors. He is also a certified adjudicator, having judged at the World Open Championships in Blackpool Tower and other major national competitions.
Beyond teaching and judging, Andrzej is a show producer for Strictly Northampton, Strictly Kids, and Dancing Schools UK. His passion for dance extends into philanthropy, launching Strictly Charity shows across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire, raising over £3 million for charitable causes.
Specialising in Ballroom, Latin, and Bachata, Andrzej teaches couples, solo dancers, and Pro-Am students, helping them master the art of dance with skill and confidence.
